Ashdown Cafe

Ashdown Café

The doors of the Ashdown Cafe are open once a month at Danehill Memorial Hall throughout the year (not August). It's run by local residents with coffee, tea, cakes and good conversation on offer! The cafe is a great opportunity to find out more about what's going on in our villages and to meet up with friends - old and new. We also welcome those who have art and craft skills to share, and from time to time there's musical entertainment provided by pupils from our wonderful primary school and a very talented local pianist.

The Ashdown Cafe is a community venture and we have been able to make donations to local organisations to help support their work.

Please come and join us on the second Friday of the month from 9.30am - 12 noon.

TNT and ICE Youth Groups

TNT and ICE Youth Groups

TNT is a purely social youth group for School Years 7 and 8 running from 6.15pm-7.25pm Thursdays in term time. ICE is a purely social youth group for School Years 9, 10 and 11 running 7.35pm-8.45pm Thursdays in term time. Everyone is welcome! On our club nights we have everything you would expect, pool, air hockey, table tennis, basket ball, wii, music, chill out room and of course a tuck shop! You don't have to come every week (sometimes homework takes over).

Full details can be found here (opens in new window)

Once every half term on our programme we have a 'Hot Potato' night. For this evening we gather to discuss a hot social topic, time to look at different points of view, discuss and reflect. Everyone has a fee pot noodle too (no not a jacket potato!). In the summer term we combine together for a whole series of summer specials, in the past these have included sumo wrestling, water slide, charity car wash and of course our annual water slide and garden party. Full details can be seen by clicking the link above.

Chelwood Gate Village Hall

Chelwood Gate Village Hall

The Village Hall has been in existence since the 1920’s as leisure and reading room serving the inhabitants of Chelwood Gate and the surrounding area. In 1964 it underwent a major renovation project which consisted of the addition of a kitchen and toilet block refurbishment to the main hall. Since then further improvements have been achieved and continue to be reviewed.

The Hall is managed and maintained by Trustees and Committee which is team of volunteers who apart from the regular bookings and administration of both public and private hire events organise money raising and charity events during the year. They have many regular classes there including fitness, yoga and coffee mornings and the contact to book is  07771 630000 and email Ali Creelman - alicreelman@hotmail.com

While we are committed to regular communication, we need to do so as cost effectively as possible in order not to waste money unnecessarily. We have therefore decided to issue the newsletters quarterly instead of every 6 months and hope to reduce the cost of distribution. We will continue to mail the Newsletter and also post it on parish notice boards and the Parish website. However, mail costs more and we would ask parishioners to consider receiving the Newsletter via email instead. This would save the PC money and ensure you get information on time.

We promise we will not bombard you with email, only the newsletter although we will give you the option of signing up to be contacted for your opinion on important issues e.g. speed limits and any large spending initiatives.

We will not provide your email address to any other party.
